About the Wood Duck

The Wood Duck is a colorful and elegant duck often found in wooded ponds, swamps, and quiet backwaters. Males display a striking combination of iridescent greens, purples, chestnut, and white markings, while females are more subtly patterned in soft browns with a bold white eye ring. Unlike many ducks, Wood Ducks frequently perch in trees.
